Where It Started

Our story began with founder Melvin “Matt” Matthews, who spent years working for major oil tool companies and saw firsthand how equipment failures and poor service hurt operations. In 1944, he established Matthews Rental Tools to offer something better. By 1947, his redesigned casing scraper - built without small fasteners or loose parts - became the foundation of the M&M product philosophy: simple, reliable, field-ready tools.

In 1960, the company became M&M Oil Tools, expanding into rental tools and well-control equipment. By 1969, in-house manufacturing of the Casing Scraper solidified our role as a true toolmaker.

Through the 1980s and 90s, M&M continued to grow, adding CNC capabilities and broadening its product line to include:

Internal Blowout Preventer Valves (IBOPs)
Surface Test Trees (Flowheads)

Today, our operations are centered in a purpose-built manufacturing facility in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, where we serve customers across the Gulf of Mexico, U.S. land markets, and international operations.
